As Kenya prepares to mark its independence and the birth of the Republic, the rhythm of celebration has already begun. On December 8, 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, officially opened Jamhuri Week 2025, setting the stage for four days of cultural showcase, innovation, and national reflection.
CS Miano has extended an invitation to all Kenyans to join in the festivities running from December 8–11. More than a commemoration, she has described Jamhuri Week as a living canvas of Kenya’s beauty, resilience, and economic strength.
“Tourism is more than an experience,” she affirmed. “It is a catalyst for jobs, conservation, enterprise, and national pride. As a sector, we stand ready to elevate Kenya’s global competitiveness as we expand opportunities for our local communities across all our nine tourism circuits.”

This year’s theme Tourism, Wildlife, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) underscore the industry’s central role as a pillar of Kenya’s economic and social development.
Miano has emphasized that the week is not just about celebration, but collaboration: a chance for counties to align with the national framework and foster a tourism sector that is sustainable, resilient, and in harmony with Kenya’s priceless natural heritage.
She has painted Nairobi as more than a capital city. “It is the best place to gauge the pulse of our nation,” she said, “and the gateway to Magical Kenya.”
The celebrations at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) bring this vision to life. According to CS Mianoi, courtesy of President William Ruto, counties from across the republic have set up dedicated booths showcasing their unique attractions.
These spaces, she says, serve as marketplaces for local entrepreneurs, platforms for cultural products, and stages for youth and creative talents—the digital storytellers and entrepreneurs of the future.
“This partnership remains invaluable as we seek to collectively drive forward the Bottom‑Up Economic Transformation Agenda, starting right here from our nation’s vibrant capital,” Miano added.
