In Nairobi, she will visit landfill initiatives driving waste management reforms, circular economy solutions, and urban environmental resilience. Her program culminates at the ongoing United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA‑7), hosted at the UN Office in Nairobi.
UNEA‑7, running from December 8–12, has convened representatives from more than 170 countries to confront the planet’s most urgent crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Delegates have declared that “the era of small steps is over,” urging bold, science‑driven action to secure a sustainable future.
Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has framed the Queen’s visit as a strategic opportunity:
“The state visit provides a platform to strengthen Kenya–Denmark collaboration in renewable energy, climate action, and environmental protection. It presents opportunities to explore new areas of partnership and innovation that benefit both nations, particularly in people‑centered and sustainable development initiatives. Kenya extends a warm welcome to Her Majesty Queen Mary.”
